Uncle T. has not had a good night’s sleep for more than a month because he is busy taking care of his child. Every time he sees his child waking up in pain and unable to form a sentence, he feels silent and pitiful.
Mr. Le N.H. (1980) is from Nghe An, currently has a daughter in grade 5 who is staying at her grandmother’s house. His wife has remarried. In 2023, Mr. H. went to work in Indonesia with the hope of having a little more money to take care of her child, but after more than 4 months in Indonesia, there was no work, so Mr. H. had to return to Vietnam and go to Saigon to make a living. In Saigon, Mr. H. worked as a freelancer, doing whatever was asked of him. In June, while working at a construction site, he unfortunately fell off the scaffolding and was hospitalized at Gia Dinh People’s Hospital. He was diagnosed with multiple injuries with a broken vertebra, crushed liver and lung, broken right elbow, broken ribs, and a broken femur, which was extremely painful. When he was hospitalized, Mr. H. did not have health insurance. Upon hearing that his son was hospitalized, Mr. H.’s father, Mr. T., now 73 years old, hurriedly flew from Nghe An to take care of his son. After a month of hospitalization, the hospital bill for Mr. H’s family is still a huge number.

Currently, Mr. H. is being treated at the Department of Anesthesia, Resuscitation and Surgical Resuscitation. The hospital fee as of July 2, 2024 is about 250 million VND, the family has advanced 133 million VND, the Social Work Department (CTXH) mobilized philanthropists to add 13 million VND, the total advance is 146 million VND, still owing about 104 million VND. From July 3, 2024, Mr. H. has had health insurance, so the additional cost each day is only about 500 thousand VND/day. Currently, the family has mobilized all resources to pay the hospital fee for Mr. H., the father, over 70 years old, has also spent all his money to take care of Mr. H. for over a month.

According to the Social Work Department of Gia Dinh Hospital, Mr. H. responded well to the medication and has regained consciousness, although he is only drowsy and cannot speak clearly. Mr. H. still needs to stay in the hospital for further monitoring. To encourage Mr. T.’s spirit and share some of the financial burden with the family, the Lotus Fund hopes to raise 22 million VND (of which 20 million VND will be paid for hospital fees and 2 million VND will be used for support), hoping that Mr. H. will recover soon.
