According to Ms. U., her parents passed away a long time ago, leaving behind a house and nothing else. Relatives have not visited since her parents passed away. She alone has to worry about taking care of her only younger brother, H., the cost of treatment for heart disease is very expensive but she still tries hard because she loves her brother.

Ms. U. is a small trader with an income of 5 million VND/month, her husband is a factory worker with a salary of 6 million VND/month and has a 3-year-old child. H. had surgery on June 21, 2014, the surgery lasted more than 12 hours. Ms. U. had not yet had time to breathe a sigh of relief after the surgery when H. developed complications, forcing her to undergo additional procedures and stay in the hospital longer, so the hospital fees also increased dramatically. At that moment, Ms. U. was helpless, but H. was her only relative, so she tried to find ways to pay more hospital fees for her brother.

According to the Social Work Department of the Heart Institute, as of August 12, 2024, the family managed to pay 300 million (40 million borrowed from neighbors and friends, 260 million borrowed from outside), currently they cannot borrow more and the remaining amount is more than 85 million VND. H. still needs to be monitored for about 1 more month before being discharged from the hospital.
